Lazy Bike: Christmas Magic

The magic of Christmas in Dublin

December is here which means that everyone is getting into their festive mood, singing along to “Jingle Bells” and “Last Christmas” in their cars on the way to work. The winter solstice, with the shortest days of the year brings family and friends together from all over the world. The Christmas tree solemnly placed in the centre of the house and decorated with ornaments illuminates the whole room creating that warm, homely feeling while everyone gathers together to sit around the table on the 25th of December.

December, however, is also the time where everyone is hectically running around and picking up the last Christmas presents (if not only starting). Great preparations and culinary skirmishes are the focus in all homes.  In the middle of the madness, a bit of fun and activities comes in which makes us forget about all the tasks and responsibilities and allows us to spend more time with the people we love. That’s where the question comes in… what has Dublin in store for us this year? Well, let me tell you!

Why not wonder the streets of Dublin and enjoy the beautiful winter lights all over the capital while the Christmas window displays of Brown Thomas and Arnotts get you into the Christmas spirit.

Attend the Annual Dublin Flea Market at the Point Square and admire the works of the finest craft designers, enjoy the home-made food and perhaps pick up some last-call gifts for your loved ones.

Carol Singers at Christchurch Cathedral

Sing carols at the Christchurch Cathedral or attend the festive Christmas concert at St. Anne’s Church. What’s a better way to start off your Christmas than engaging with the local community and singing your heart out to the best know Christmas carols.

For families with kids there is also a lot to offer. Bring your little ones to the Wild Lights at the Dublin Zoo or the Funderland Theme Park and you’ll be sure that the whole family will have a blast! Don’t forget about the Santa visits all around Dublin in places like the GPO, Epic, the Wax Museum and many shopping centres like Arnotts and Jervis.

Oh, and don’t forget about Ice Skating! It seems like it has become an annual tradition to go ice skating at least once every Christmas with Ice rinks in the RDS, Liffey Valley, Dundrum and more!

Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo

There’s so much to do this Christmas with the mentioned activities being just a taste of what is to come. No doubt, you can surely say that Dublin is the place to go this Christmas!

With all that said, I’m curious as to HOW will YOU spend your Christmas this year?
